Some conversations stay with you forever. This was one of them.
This October, at Italoptik Kala, we opened our doors not to show eyewear, but to listen. We sat down with ten women. Some of them have faced cancer themselves. Others have lived it through a mother, a sister, a husband or a loved one, some of whom are no longer with us.
We spoke openly and from the heart. How life changes the moment you hear the diagnosis. How it changes for your family, your children and everyone who stands beside you. The fear, the exhaustion, the silence, and also the strength we never knew we had. There were tears, and there were smiles. Above all, there was deep understanding.

A doctor and a psychologist were with us. The doctor spoke about the importance of early check-ups and of the care each of us owes herself. The psychologist helped us talk about what is so often kept inside: how to face pain, how to ask for help, and how to stand by one another so that no one feels alone.

The message we carried home was simple: as women, we need each other. A kind word, a phone call, a hand on the shoulder can do more than we imagine.
For us at Italoptik, this meeting was deeply moving. For 30 years we have cared for our clients’ eyes, but we firmly believe our work does not end at the shop. Our duty is also to serve the community we live in, the people who have trusted us over the years.

Thank you to every woman who came, who spoke, and who trusted us with her story. Thank you to the doctor and the psychologist for their time and their hearts. We carry you with us.
In October and all year round: take care of yourself, have your check-ups on time, and never hesitate to ask for support. You are not alone.
With love,
Romina Lula and the Italoptik team
